Our institution S.V. government P. G. College Lohaghat, the leading premier institution in the district was established on 16th October 1979 by the Uttar Pradesh government. At the time of establishment, it was affiliated with Kumaun University Nainital, and it is now affiliated with S. S. J. University Almora Science 2020. The college was recognized by UGC in 11/2/1982 under section 2F of the UGC act 09/11/1994 12B.
Initially the college was situated in the Meena Bazaar area of Lohaghat and offered courses only for Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Commerce programmes. Starting under harsh circumstances and within limited resources, the college is now one of the premier institutions of nearby areas that tries to fulfil the expectations of higher education of people in both quality and quantity. At the same time, it tries to reach the level of academic excellence
The college which started with a few subjects at undergraduate level in 1979 is today imparting education in 5 subjects of science, 11 subjects of Arts in UG and 13 subjects in PG level. Here, thinking minds build on their basics and blossom into dynamic professionals. The faculty members here are highly educated, experienced and competitive in their approach.

It’s on the banks of Lohawati river. It’s known widely for its beautifully sculpted temples. Located at an altitude of 1706 mts, the town falls in the seismic belt of zone 5. This ancient town of Lohaghat has immense historical and mythological importance which attracts a number of tourists.
